Matthew X. Fissinger
Assistant Vice Provost for Undergraduate Admission

Matt Fissinger has led the Office of Undergraduate Admission at LMU since 1990. Prior to coming to LMU, he worked for 14 years in various capacities on the Admission staff at his alma mater, Boston College.

His responsibilities include managing the recruitment of prospective students and evaluation and admission decisions for undergraduate applicants. Additionally, he is a member of LMU’s Enrollment Management Leadership team, involved with the development and implementation of strategic financial aid packaging, new student Orientation, and in efforts to optimize retention. (Read More)

Radia Alouache
Senior Associate Director
Contact Radia Alouache

Radia Alouache brings to her role as Senior Associate Director a degree in Finance & International Business and a Master in Education with a focus in counseling. She combines this background with 25 years in admission experience. Radia oversees the recruitment and  decision process for freshman applicants. She is a long-time member of NACAC and WACAC and actively involved in these two admission professional organizations. In her spare time she likes to read, travel, and try new restaurants.

Viktor T. Kerney

Viktor T. Kerney serves as an Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admission. He received his B.A. in Communications and M.S. in Organizational Communication from Murray State University at Murray, Kentucky. A unique part of his position is being the Co-Director of Orientation, collaborating with many faculty and staff to welcome and orient the freshman class to LMU. In his spare time, Viktor enjoys writing, advocating for social justice, and pop culture.

Charles Mason

Charles Mason serves as an Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admission. He received his B.A. of Ethnic Studies and Political Science from California State University, Los Angeles. Charles has shown demonstrated commitment to advocacy for social justice and the mentorship of young people throughout his career. He enjoys his work in the Office of Admission because it is the perfect blend of challenge, change, and helping others.

Christine Parra

Although Chris now considers herself a LMU Lion after 14 years in Admission, she attended St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas where she obtained both a B.A. in English Communication Arts, as well as a M.A. in Community Counseling.  Being an out-of-state college student from Omaha, Nebraska, Chris has had a special interest in both introducing and recruiting prospective students from the Midwest. In her free time she enjoys time with her children and supporting causes of those with special needs.


Evelyn Fajardo

Evelyn Fajardo is a proud alumna of Loyola Marymount University, earning a B.A. in both Psychology and Music in 2016. Hailing from a mid-sized Catholic high school in Berkeley, CA, she fell in love with LMU for its similarly strong sense of on-campus community and its commitment to off-campus service. As an Admission Counselor, Evelyn specializes in local outreach to the greater Los Angeles area. When she isn’t eagerly recruiting new Lions, she enjoys spending time with her loved ones and singing along to anything from Beyoncé to Mozart.

Charles received his B.A. in Political Science and African American Studies from the University of California, Berkeley and his M.A. in African American Studies from UCLA. In addition to his recruiting responsibilities, Charles also co-facilitates the Campus Tour Program. As a lifelong Los Angeles resident, Charles is very passionate about making higher education accessible to first-generation college students. In his spare time he enjoys reading, attending live sporting events and exploring the outdoors with his young daughter.


Christopher Kwan

Christopher Kwan is an Admissions Counselor that works with Loyola Marymount University’s Tour Guides. He received his B.A in History from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. As a recent transplant to Los Angeles from Maui, Hawaii he is happy to have found an outstanding Admissions family to work with. In his free time he enjoys cooking for his family, playing with his two dachshunds and exploring all that California has to offer.

Steven Marsiglia received his B.A. in Anthropology and Ethnic Studies at the University of California, Berkeley and his M.S.Ed. in Education, Culture and Society at the University of Pennsylvania. As an Admission Counselor, Steven serves the Orange County area, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah. He is the host of LMU’s Asian American Pacific Islander student recruitment programs such as API Scholar’s Day, API Overnight and Japan Bowl. Originally from SoCal, he enjoys exploring the city of Los Angeles and has a passion for working with students to increase higher education enrollment.

Melissa Turcios
Admission Counselor
Contact Melissa Turcios

Melissa brings to the team a liberal arts background from Dickinson College, where she majored in Spanish and minored in Education. Melissa then pursued her passion for mentoring youth as a Language and Culture Ambassador in Madrid, Spain. In addition to teaching secondary students, she served as the College and Career Advisor to candidates for graduation. Melissa is committed to promoting equity in education and closing the opportunity gap. A Los Angeles native, she returned to receive her Master’s in Education from Pepperdine University. Melissa is excited to join LMU in leading the Latino outreach efforts and be an advocate for increasing higher education access for students.

Thomas (Tom) Gutto serves as Director of Transfer Enrollment Services at Loyola Marymount University. He is responsible for leading programs and initiatives within Enrollment Management, and collaborating across the institution, to create partnerships and systems that best support transfer students as both incoming and existing students.

Tom is proud to be a double alumnus of the University, earning his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Master of Arts in Guidance and Counseling from LMU. (Read More)

Vanessa Miranda

As Loyola Marymount University’s Assistant Director for Enrollment Services, Vanessa Miranda serves as the retention specialist for Enrollment Management. She assists students who are navigating enrollment barriers during their time at the University by providing support and working with University partners on their behalf. She is committed to serving students holistically, and providing the utmost customer service. Vanessa earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Anthropology in 2009 and a Master of Education in Higher Education in 2011. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading and trying out new recipes.

 

Johanna Czarnecki

Johanna Czarnecki is the Assistant Director for Transfer Enrollment Services. She serves as the point person for transfer students, providing counseling throughout the enrollment process to create a clear path to transfer student success at LMU. As a proud transfer graduate of Loyola Marymount University with a Bachelor’s in Studio Arts, she hopes to share with prospective students and families the positive impact LMU’s mission has had on her life as a student, alumni and now as a professional staff member. Originally from Sacramento, she is glad to have found another home in the vibrant city of Los Angeles, as well as at LMU.

Alison Potoczak serves as the Senior Administrative Coordinator for International Admission and Transfer Enrollment Services. She received her Bachelor’s in Business Administration with an Emphasis in Marketing from Loyola Marymount University. Alison is from Temecula, California, but has lived in Los Angeles for the past ten years. In her free time, she enjoys reading, listening to music, and watching movies.

Dan Marschner
Director of International Admission
Contact Dan Marschner

Dan Marschner has been making his mark in international admission since 2012 and has worked in Enrollment Management for seven years. He recently received his doctoral degree from the University of Cincinnati, with a focus on the cultural acclimation process for international students to the U.S.

Originally from Cincinnati, Dan has studied in Australia, Italy, and Nicaragua, and lived in Chile for two and a half years where he worked as a Jesuit Volunteer after completing an undergraduate degree in psychology.  Most recently, Dan successfully co-coordinated the International Admission and Recruitment stream of the Pre-Conference Institute as part of the International ACAC Professional Development Committee.

Christie Culp

Christie Culp earned her bachelor’s degree in Intercultural Communication at Pepperdine University and studied abroad as an international student. She went on to complete a master’s degree in Italian Literature at UCLA, where she discovered a love for working with students. Christie has enjoyed working with international students since 2012 and currently serves as the Assistant Director of International Admission and Outreach at Loyola Marymount. In her free time, she enjoys playing fetch with her Italian greyhound, learning languages and traveling to obscure locations.

Paul Kim

Paul Kim serves as an International Admission Counselor at Loyola Marymount University. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania and worked abroad in education for three years in Shanghai. He completed his master's degree in education policy at Teachers College, Columbia University focusing on K-12 and higher education. Paul is now back in his hometown of Los Angeles and after working extensively with international students in China and New York, Paul continues to work with this vibrant community at LMU.
